Description
Updated work in progress for SCHS school grounds, using the buildings designed by ~Mig26
Maybe another couple day's work to get this to look like something but I guess this is clearer than the previous w.i.p
tech notes
Here the wall (lined blocks) uses a path. Matching a path to a subsurf (the 'winding road') is not convenient. Additionally the curve modifier feels buggy (with a multi-curve it will only pick up the first curve) and counter-intuitive.
I guess, for the final version I'll just duplicate the block myself aw. Fitting objects along a path will have uses, however. Figuring how to do it in blender is a bit tricky as it requires combining two modifiers, you can read here: [link]
Another thing I won't do again is try to make the ground by subdividing a square. This would save time if fitting levels was easy but it's not - here the ground is nothing but flat, making it very difficult to ensure a correct fit everywhere (e.g. the base of each building must touch the ground, likewise the base of the wall surrounding the winding path).
So I still think it's better to start with outlines of each building (and the road) and create an ad-hoc mesh.
Made in Blender ofc
